Last October I flew to San Francisco to begin a two-month trip in the US to visit some places I'd wanted to explore for a long time.
After a few days in San Francisco I headed East by train, bus and then car into the Sierra Nevada mountains. On a three-day hike in the Yosemite wilderness, I was treated to a stunning view of Half Dome, El Capitan and Yosemite Valley from the summit of Clouds' Rest.
I then headed further East to explore Mammoth, Bishop and Lone Pine before hiking Mt. Whitney. Up on the main summit ridge at 4am with mountain ranges visible in all directions, the glowing early morning sky providing the perfect backdrop.
