Every autumn the Yorkshire Dales plays host to a gruelling 61 km race across the 'Three Peaks' of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent - the 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross.
Known to many as the toughest event of it's kind anywhere in the world, the race pits riders and their machines against some of the toughest terrain you can imagine - rocky tracks, steep hillside slopes, streams, limestone outcrops and fast, brutal descents.
Last year we watched the riders come down an especially steep section just off the summit of Pen-y-ghent, and got a close-up view of just how hard they have to work just to stay on their bikes - yet alone complete this beast of a route!
Because much of the course goes across private land, the event is the only time in the year that riders can cycle the whole route.
